Day One

Arrival Lilongwe. Transfer to The Sanctuary Lodge for overnight.

Day Two

Early departure for Luangwa Valley, Zambia. The route is from Lilongwe to Chipata, the capital of Zambias Eastern Province.  If visa has not been obtained then it will be issued at the border against a fee of USD. 50,-. Note that yellow fever vaccination is a requirement in Zambia when entering from Malawi.

Proceed to Chipata, Zambia capital of the east and onwards on dirt road, with a picnic lunch to Luangwa Valley and Thornicroft Lodge where you will be accommodated for the next three nights. Thornicroft is 4 star Lodge situated on the banks of Luangwa River. Luxurious accommodation in double canvass and stone en suite Chalets with own verandah.

Day Three & Four

After a light snack with tea or coffee you depart on your morning game drive at 06 am. All game drives are undertaken in open 4 wd vehicles making the experience of the safari unique. Drinks and snacks are available in the vehicle. Return to Thornicroft around 11 am for a delicious brunch. Afternoon at leisure and at 1600 you go on your evening game drive to return to the Lodge at around 2000 hrs for dinner.

Luangwa Valley offers the opportunity to experience a game walk with a ranger.

Day Five

The morning will be with a leisurely start of the day. After breakfast we pack and start the journey back to Lilongwe. We will also have a picnic lunch with us. Estimated  time of arrival in Lilongwe is at 1500. Back in Lilongwe you will be met by the driver who will transfer you to Cape Maclear and Danforth Lodge. The trip is roughly 3 hours, but you will make it before dark. At danforth you will be received by your hosts Michelle and Howard who will give you a royal treat in the coming days. Danforth is a small lodge with 8 en suite rooms, tastefully decorated to match the environment and the activities there. The size of the lodge gives it an intimate atmosphere where its possible to get to know the other guests that may be there. Danforth offers the following activities;  

Sailing and cruising on the yacht “Mufasa” ,Hobie cat and dingy sailing ,Snorkelling ,Scuba diving Waterskiing, wakeboarding, tube rides, Swimming Pool, Kayaking, Fishing, Mountain biking Guided nature walks,,Birding, Cultural outings to the traditional village, Pool table, table tennis and darts,Trampoline.

Around Cape Maclear it is possible to walk around on your own, visit the village to see the woodcarvers, and the life, how it is lived in very rural Malawi. Truly a heartfelt experience.

Day Five – Nine

Accomodation on full Board at Danforth Lodge Cape Maclear

You will be picked up at Danforth and driven back to Lilongwe for your flight, or for extension in

Arrival transfer from Lilongwe Airport to The Sanctuary Lodge.  One night accomodation on BB basis at Sancuary Lodge. Safari as described Luangwa valley inclusive of transfer to and from Lilongwe. Mealplan fullboard. Safari drives. Transfer from Lilongwe to and from Cape Maclear. Accomodation Danforth Lodge on fulboard basis. All local taxes.
